Drain / Detrenching Grapnel for seawater cable removal
Our engineering and production department has completed numerous individual projects where customers have requested the Dragging/Detrenching Grapnel. KAMI has carried out various projects on unique and specific drums where we have carried out the design work and FEM calculations based on customer proposals. In addition to the engineering part, we have produced the steel structure in high-strength steel, and we have been responsible for the surface treatment and any testing of the equipment.
A Grapnel – also known as a Detrenching Grapnel – is used to retrieve seawater cables from the seabed when they have been breached. The equipment is deployed via a ship and travels across the seabed, and once the equipment grabs the cable via the tine itself, the cable can be pulled up from the seabed.
